As the CBA playoffs intensify, tensions have boiled over among fans. During a recent game at Zhejiang’s home court, spectators threw lighters onto the court and chanted “referee bias” in large numbers. Similarly, at Shanxi’s home arena, fans repeatedly shouted “fixed game” and hurled insults at the officials. The CBA has responded decisively by issuing two separate fines.
According to the league’s official statement, during the Shanxi vs. Guangsha game, the home crowd engaged in widespread verbal abuse of referees and loud chants of “cheating.” As a result, the Shanxi team was fined 50,000 yuan (deducted from their league allocation), and the Taiyuan venue was stripped of eligibility for this season’s “Best Venue Organization” award.
The second penalty targeted the Zhejiang men’s basketball team. During their match against Shenzhen, Zhejiang fans threw lighters and other objects onto the court, along with widespread “biased referee” chants. Additionally, Zhejiang’s investor, Jin Zijun, entered the scorer’s table area to argue, disrupting the officials’ work. The Zhejiang team was fined 110,000 yuan, and the Yiwu venue lost its chance to compete for the “Best Venue Organization” award. Furthermore, Jin Zijun was personally fined 50,000 yuan and suspended for one game.
